The same applies to anyone currently studying to become a yoga teacher.

My membership status

I have recently enroled on an AYS Foundation course with Ranju Roy and have therefore joined AYS as part of this course. I am already a Yoga Teacher trained by the BWY in 2002 and would therefore hope that this entitles me to be recognised as a Yoga Teacher for Teaching Membership? If you need any further details from me please let me know. Thanks, Dee

membership status

I'm afraid that your training with BWY does not of itself qualify you as a teacher member of aYs, and the fact that you have simply enrolled on an aYs Foundation course is not sufficient to upgrade your membership. Although the Foundation Course provides you with greater insight into our tradition, it is not a teaching qualification. We have clearly stated on our front page which training courses currently qualify. If you have a look at the new entry in the courses forum, "course outlines for Course approval" you will find an outline of the course descriptor that we use as a benchmark.

I know that Ranju is, with Dave Charlton, proposing a new course, "The Art of Individual Teaching" which is intended to offer teachers such as yourself, the opportunity to acquire the necessary skills (especially in teaching individuals) which we are looking for in suitably qualified teacher members. You can find details of this on the Sadhana Mala website (http://www.yogamala.co.uk/courses_teacher_training.htm). When you begin the Foundation Course with Ranju you can get further details from him - or of course you can contact him before then.

I hope you find this helpful.
